General Session called to order at 11:00am

Donation:   Joseph Mitchell, representing the Air Force Security Forces’ Front Range Chapter, presented the CSPPA with a $500 donation designated for use towards hurricane relief efforts.

Member Comments: Potential impact of Corporal program on senior patrol officer shift picks was raised and discussed.

Board Discussion Items:

  • Board Vacancy: Four CSPPA members are to be interviewed by a subcommittee of the Board for the vacated sworn-at-large seat. Interviews will be completed and an announcement made as soon as possible.
  • Candidate Endorsement Request: The Board was asked to provide an endorsement on behalf of Sheriff Bill Elder’s campaign for re-election. It was agreed that a subcommittee of the Board will interview both Sheriff Elder and opposition candidate Mike Angley to enable an informed decision. 
  • Executive Director Report:
    • Roof Replacement: Due to its age and condition, the CSPPA roof is in need of replacement.  Estimates thus far indicate a cost range of $30,000 – $50,000. Information sufficient to select a roofer should be presented at the November board meeting.
    • Tree Removal: After seeking estimates to deadwood and clearance prune the large elm in the parking lot, it was learned that the tree has significant disease.  After discussing estimates and option, the Board agreed to have the tree removed.
    • Municipal Courthouse Gym:  Estimates to repair the Stairmaster ranged from $400 – $800.  As $500 has already been spent on the machine, it was decided to remove the Stairmaster.  A replacement will be sought via donation.
