Meeting called to order at 11:00am

Member Comments:

  • PPA Gym: A concern was brought forward regarding maintenance of the CSPPA gym located in the Municipal Courthouse building. A new maintenance service is set to begin at the end of June as the prior individual retired at the end of May. Antibacterial wipes will be available to wipe down equipment before/after use.

Board Discussion Items:

  • Donation Request: The CSPPA received a request to support the 2018 Colorado Police and Fire Athletic Games, to be held July 30th – August 5th in Colorado Springs. The Board approved a $1000.00 sponsorship.

  • Extra Duty Hours: Release time from events held at the World Arena and Sky Sox Stadium was discussed. While it is generally understood that events in these venues can run over, it was agreed that there would be informal follow-up by a representative of the Board regarding extra duty training and policy.
  • Body Worn Camera Policy: Follow-up on amendments to BWC policy to be added to next Chiefs’ meeting agenda.
  • Retiree Insurance: Retiree insurance continues to be a pervasive and unresolved concern, especially given the gap between age of retirement and onset of Medicare benefits. The board agreed to reach out to community and City resources to advance a solution to address this increasing burden.
  • Executive Director Report:
    • PPA Biennial Survey: The biennial survey was distributed department-wide on June 4th and will remain open, via a survey monkey, link through July 3rd. Close to 200 responses were submitted in the first 48 hours.
